The trailer feels very similar to the dramatic CG trailer the Yoshida team made for the FF14 expansion, which did a great job of promoting the action and kicking off the story. Our first look at FF16 focused on the game’s broad tone and themes, which definitely tend to be darker than any modern game in the series. Here’s the Final Fantasy 16 announcement trailer The second half of the trailer turns into a giant monster movie, with back-to-back shots of the Eikons wailing at each other as the damage numbers fly by. The battles between the Eikons also seem to affect the gameplay. a lot of.īased on the lines we’ve heard throughout the trailer, the story will largely feature rulers who can control the power of the massive Eikons - gigantic incarnations of the summons from previous Final Fantasy games. Our protagonist covers so many unknown knights. Here’s Sony’s latest Final Fantasy 16 trailer for 2022 State of Playīetween the nuggets of fantasy political drama, the first half of our latest take on FF16 is a lovely montage of gorgeous, lively combat that clearly shares many of the same notes as FF7 Remake’s real-time combat. After all, the PC port of Final Fantasy 15 took two years to launch. If a PC version eventually comes out, there may be a long wait. While a PC version was mentioned in the game’s trailer, which Square Enix hasn’t acknowledged since, the game is currently available as a PS5 exclusive. Here’s what we know and speculate about Final Fantasy 16: When is Final Fantasy 16’s release date? Confirm PC version?įinal Fantasy XVI is currently slated to release on PlayStation 5 in the summer of 2023. On the surface, it will play out like something between FFVII Remake and the Kaiju battle movie. This is the first new mainline Final Fantasy game since Final Fantasy XV (opens in new tab) And, in true series form, it appears to be taking on a whole new role in a whole new world. The original mention of the PC version has disappeared, and Square Enix has been shy about whether we’d smash the Eikons together if we didn’t have the PS5. We don’t know when or if it will come to PC. The main characters looked very good but the NPCs looked really bad.One thing’s for sure: Final Fantasy XVI is coming. Also both games were very inconsistent in terms of character models especially FFVIIR. Nothing in both FFXV and FFVIIR looked like that. But of course there is still a lot of room to improve their stylized realism. It's more of a stylized realism which personally i actually prefer. I understand that it's a sad realization that a company as ambitious as SE used to be is no more like that but i think that's the reality.Īlso i don't think "they are aiming for realism" tbh. I have faith that he will deliver a solid and artistically beautiful FF but i don't expect that FFXVI will push any graphical boundaries. I remember how he said that when he took the helm of FFXIV's development team he couldn't believe that there were artists who were working on a rock for a whole week. Based on his interviews i understand that Yoshida is a very down to earth guy who likes to focus more on gameplay than graphics. ![]() Which is probably a good thing since that will let them focus on what's important which is the actual gameplay. I don't know if it's because they are not technically capable enough to have in-game graphics that look like that or it's because that kind of graphical quality would raise their budget significantly more and they don't expect a new FF to make enough profits that will justify that raise in production costs but i think after the disasters that were both FFXIV (initially) and Versus/FFXV they stopped chasing graphical fidelity and they are probably a lot less ambitious in terms of graphics now. The main characters looked very good but the NPCs looked really bad. Click to expand.Nothing in both FFXV and FFVIIR looked like that.
